Ghana defender John Boye excels in FC Metz heavy win in French Ligue 1
1 min readGhana international John Boye was in the thick of affairs for FC Metz in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday afternoon.
Boye, 34, was instrumental in the Maroons’ impressive 5-1 away win over relegation-bound Dijon at the Stade Gaston Gérard in a highly-entertaining game.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup Ghana defender lasted the entire period of the game for the victors as he wore the captain’s armband.
Metz boss Frederic Antonetti deployed the former Sivasspor and Stade Rennes central defender as a defensive midfielder as he provided a crusting shield to the backline and foiled dangerous attacks initiated by the home side.
Sunday afternoon’s game was Boye’s 32nd league appearance this season for Metz. He has also contributed a goal to their campaign.
Metz currently sit 9th on the Ligue 1 table.
