Despite securing a narrow victory against West Ham United on the final day of the season, Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey and his Leicester City team experienced the heartbreak of relegation from the English Premier League.
After a commendable nine-year stint in the top flight, Leicester City’s fate was sealed as they finished two points below the safety line. Everton’s 1-0 triumph over Bournemouth confirmed Leicester’s demotion to the Championship.
The atmosphere at the King Power Stadium was one of disappointment as Leicester supporters reflected on a challenging season that witnessed their team only managing to win nine league matches.
Although Leicester took the lead with a goal from Harvey Barnes and added a second courtesy of Wout Faes, the news of Everton’s goal overshadowed the celebrations.
West Ham’s Pablo Fornals managed to pull one back, but the result couldn’t salvage Leicester City from their unfortunate relegation.
