Germany have beaten France on penalties in the FIFA U17 World Cup final, to be crowned world champions at that level for the first time
Borussia Dortmund youngster Paris Brunner opened the scoring with a penalty at the Manahan Stadium in Jakarta before the side’s captain, Noah Darvich – who recently moved to Barcelona from Freiburg – made it two.
Saïmon Bouabré pulled one back for France before Mathis Amougou drew the scores level five minutes from time, which meant penalties.
Robert Ramsak, Max Moerstadt, Fayssal Harchaoui and Almugera Kabar scored their spot-kicks as Germany prevailed 4-3 on penalties, adding the world title to the European one they won at this level in June.
