German Bundesliga club RB Leipzig sign Ghanaian-born Dutch striker Brian Brobbey
1 min readGhanaian-born Dutch striker, Brian Brobbey has agreed to join RB Leipzig as a free agent this summer, the German Bundesliga club announced Friday.
Weeks ago, Ajax confirmed that the 19-year-old would leave the club at the end of the season after refusing to renew his contract.
Brobbey has since been tipped to join Leipzig.
And after scoring in Ajax’s 3-0 win over Young Boys in the Europa League Thursday night, the Bundesliga side have now confirmed that the youngster has an agreement on a four-year deal and will join the club in the summer once his contract with Ajax expires.
Portions of a club statement read: “Brian Brobbey will join RB Leipzig from Dutch record champions Ajax on 1 July 2021. The 19-year-old has signed a four-year deal until 2025.
“His preferred position is as a centre forward, but he can be used anywhere across the attacking line.”
Brobbey also stated:
“RB Leipzig is a great club and is going through a great season. Julian Nagelsmann is a young and very good coach, from whom I can learn a lot.
“The team is stable and has a strong sense of unity. I look forward to joining the team and of course, I want to help the club to be as successful as possible.”
So far in the 2020/21 season, Brian Brobbey has made 11 appearances for Ajax, scoring four goals and adding two assists.
