French side AS Monaco agree deal with Southampton for Ghana’s Mohammed Salisu

Monaco and Southampton have reached an agreement for the transfer of defender Mohammed Salisu.
Personal terms have been sorted, and a medical examination is scheduled for early next week.
Notably, Salisu was not part of Southampton’s squad for their pre-season friendlies against AZ Alkmaar on Saturday and Bournemouth on Tuesday.
Initially, Fulham was close to securing a £15 million deal for Salisu, but their focus shifted to pursuing Calvin Bassey instead, allowing Monaco to secure the signing.
Salisu, 24, last played for Southampton in March. Towards the end of the season, he was excluded from the team due to concerns regarding his commitment and application in recovering from an injury.
With his Southampton contract expiring next summer and talks about extending his deal proving fruitless, it became apparent that Salisu was unlikely to stay with the club after their relegation to the Championship.
In the previous Premier League season, the Ghanaian international featured in 22 matches.
