Asante Kotoko have revealed that nine players have been excluded from their contingent for the pre-season trip to Sudan due to injuries.

The reigning Ghanaian champions departed the West African country on Sunday afternoon for the second phase of their pre-season activities ahead of the 2022/23 season.

According to the club, Cameroon duo Georges Mfegue Omgba and Franck Mbella Etouga who were taken to hospital on Friday due to their ill health were left out of the travelling squad list to the North African country.

Also, Patrick Asmah, Charles Owusu, Maxwell Agyemang and striker Samuel Boateng were all excluded from the list despite recovering from injuries following caution from the club’s medical team.

Goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad is on international duty with the Black Galaxies in Austria.

Again, youngster Ibrahim Osman who returned from a season-long loan stint at King Faisal as well as Justice Blay who got injured in the course of last season could not make the trip.

Kotoko are expected to spend about 10 days for the pre-season in Sudan and will be playing a high-profile friendly game against Sudanese giants Al Hilal SC.

They were billed to travel to Turkey for the pre-season exercise but it fell through hence the decision to move to Sudan.
