Derrick Arthur Köhn, a Ghanaian-born defender who plays for the Germany U-19 national team, has expressed his desire to play for the Ghana national team, the Black Stars.
Köhn, who currently plays for Hannover 96 in Germany, has been putting in exceptional performances throughout the season, contributing to 10 goals so far.
The talented defender, who joined Hannover 96 from Bayern Munich in 2022 after a successful loan spell with Wellim FC in Germany, is hoping for a chance to showcase his skills on the international stage.
“It would be a great honor for me to receive an invitation to join the Black Stars under the leadership of Chris Hughton, and I am ready to represent Ghana with confidence,” Köhn said in an interview with Hot FM in Accra.
Köhn has scored five goals in the German Bundesliga 2 this season, and his consistent performances have caught the attention of Ghana’s national team selectors. Moreover, several clubs in the top-flight league are reportedly interested in signing him.
Recently, Köhn’s coach, Stefan Leitl, praised him, stating that he is the best left-back in the league. “For me, Derrick is the best left-back in the league. He demonstrated that impressively today,” the Hannover 96 manager said.
