Fatau Dauda dreams of winning trophy with Legon Cities
2 min readVeteran goalkeeper, Abdul Fatau Dauda says he hopes of annexing at least a trophy with Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities.
The former Ghana number one who was in the books of Enyimba joined the Royals in December last year after he was released by the Nigerian giants.
The 34-year-old joined capital-based as a free agent before the start of the truncated 2020-21 Ghana Premier League.
Dauda has indicated that he would be proud when he clinch a trophy with his new side, having won leagues with Ashantigold and Enyimba and FA Cup with Orlando Pirates.
“The Lord has done a lot for me looking at the number of footballers across the globe. I’m yet to retire and still active keeping the posts,” Dauda told Hello FM
“My focus is on club football. All the clubs that I have played for so far I was able to win something.
“I won FA Cup with Orlando Pirates, League trophies with Ashantigold and Enyimba. It would be a great achievement for me if I can win something at Legon Cities.
He advised players to concentrate much at their clubs as that is the only place one could use to earn a call-up to a national team.
“Every player need to be focused at his club because it’s only there that one could earn a national team call-up.”
Legon Cities have strengthened their squad ahead of the new season with the acquisition of experienced players such as Asamoah Gyan, former Aduana Stars midfielder Elvis Opoku, former Asante Kotoko midfielder Baba Mahama, Michael Ampadu and others.
Many have therefore tipped them to produce great football in the upcoming season as they open their campaign with a home game against Berekum Chelsea.
Dauda featured for Ashantigold between 2006 and 2013 before travelling to South Africa to have short spells with Orlando Pirates and Chippa United.
He later returns to Ghana and won the 2014-15 Ghana Premier League title with Ashantigold before joining Enyimba in 2016.
