Former Super Eagles goalkeeper and trainer Ike Shorunmu has pointed out weak spots Ghana could capitalize on ahead of the make-or-break World Cup qualifier.

West African heavyweights Nigeria and Ghana will reignite their age-long rivalry in a crucial two-legged tie in March for a spot at the FIFA World Cup.

The goalkeeping department of Nigeria came under a lot of backlash following the country’s shock exit at the round-of-16 in the Africa Cup of Nations with No.1 Maduka Okoye coming under series of attacks.

Despite boasting of a strong squad, the 2002 World Cup icon argues the weakest link in the Super Eagles setup is the goalkeeping department.

“Even though I know that we [Nigeria] have quality players that can get the job done against the Black Stars of Ghana, however, I am still worried that we don’t have so much confidence in the goalkeeping department, Shorunmu told Completesports.

Shorunmu, who has little faith in the current goalkeeping department of Nigeria, has urged the technical team to work on immediately before facing Ghana.

“We must avoid the same error that cost Nigeria the game against Tunisia if the team must qualify for the World Cup in Qatar. The technical crew must focus on the goalkeeping department before Ghana’s clash.” He ended.
