“Every time we find somebody to blame” – Asamoah Gyan takes a swipe at former Black Stars Coach Akwasi Appiah for claiming the team lost to Portugal because of money

Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has reacted former coach Kwesi Appiah’s comments to the 2014 Commission of Enquiry four years ago after the team’s shameful and disastrous performance in Brazil.

A Commission of Enquiry was set after Ghana’s early exit from the tournament when players of the Black Stars nearly boycotted the final game against Portugal because their appearance fees were not paid.

During Kwesi Appiah’s submission to the Commission, he revealed the Black Stars were not concentrating because they had monies in their bags while on the pitch.

He reiterated his stance on Starr FM on Saturday morning leading to a response from the legendary Ghana forward.

“In the 2014 World Cup against Portugal, the Black Stars players had their money in their bags in the dressing room and were not concentrating on the game,” Kwasi Appiah told Starr FM.

However, after his comments, Gyan took to Twitter to respond, stating the coach is playing the blame game.

“Yes, cos he had satellite in our bags. Smh. Every time we find somebody to blame,” he responded.

The government at that time had to fly $4 million to settle the players after their protest of boycotting the tournament.

The Black Stars lost the final game 2-1 to exit the competition just after three games.

The Black Stars will open their campaign at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with a blockbuster clash against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.

Ghana are appearing at the World Cup for the fourth time after missing the 2018 edition in Russia.
