EPL: Aubameyang on target as Arsenal wallop Fulham
1 min read
Arsenal got off to a perfect start in the 2020/21 English Premier League season with a resounding 3-0 win over Fulham.
Mikel Arteta’s side continued from their FA Cup and Community Shield triumph by temporarily going top of the table.
Transfer bound Alexandre Lacazette scored Arsenal’s first from what looked like a scrappy finish after he pounced on a rebound.
Willian was in a good position to score but saw his effort being saved by Fulham goalkeeper Marek Rodák before the Frenchman tapped in from close range.
The Gunners will head into half time with a narrow victory despite Fulham’s threat upfront on a couple of occasions.
New arrival Gabriel Magalhães doubled Arsenal’s lead with a header from Héctor Bellerín’s corner. Willian will then locate captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who scored a trademark goal and Arsenal’s third in the 57th minute to snatch maximum points for his side.
The result keeps the reigning FA Cup Champions top of the table until today’s matches. Willian and Gabriel Magalhães were both making their debut League appearance for Arsenal since their moves from Chelsea and Lille respectively.
