Ex-Cote d’Ivoire Skipper, Didier Drogba failed in his quest to become the new President of the Federation of Ivorian Football after recording the lowest votes in a three horse race.
The former Chelsea and Marseille striker pulled 21 of the total 130 ballots cast in the first round of voting, representing 16.54% of the votes.
The two-times African Footballer of the Year award winner was hoping to follow in the footsteps of African football legend Samuel Eto’o Fils, who was voted as Cameroon Football Federation President in December 2021.
Diallo Yacine Idriss had 59 votes while his closest contender Diabate Sory recorded 50 votes in the first round of the Presidential Election.

Diallo won the second round of voting with 63 votes to 61, a difference of 2 votes ahead of Diabate, to become the replacement for the late former president of the FIF Augustin Sidy Diallo, who died of Covid-19 in November 2020.
