Dreams FC Coach Zito to drop Fasting boys

Dreams FC Coach Abdul Karim Zito is planning to drop players observing the Ramadan fast from his match-day squads for subsequent games scheduled for the month of April, 2022.
This is due to the low work-rate displayed by some Muslim players in his squad, especially in the first half of their MTN FA Cup quarter-final against Kotoku Royals, as Dreams FC laboured to secure a 2-1 win on Wednesday to advance to the last four of the knockout competition.
Dreams FC needed a late winner from an expertly struck long range free-kick by Adamu Amadu to win the match at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.
Asides Fahadu Suleman who was left on the bench, five Muslim players observing the Ramadan Fast featured either as starters or substitutes in the crucial encounter. They are starters Abdulai Ibrahim, Captain Abdul Jalilu, Issah Ibrahim and substitutes Sadat Mohammed and goal scorer Adamu Amadu.
“Almost half of my players were fasting. We used to fast and play but today was different. Next time I may drop all the fasting boys. During the first half, my boys were down until I made changes. You know the mentality of Ghanaian players. Sometimes it doesn’t work like it does with real professionals,” Zito said in a post-match interview.
Dreams FC’s next assignment will be a Ghana Premier League match-day 25 fixture at Karela FC on April 17.
