DAY 2 Results of 2023 Ashanti Regional Inter-school Boys’ Soccer Competition: KUHIS, OWASS eliminated; Sakafia, OKESS progress [Check out Round of 16 fixtures]

The 2nd Day of ongoing Ashanti schools and Colleges Soccer Competition continued today at the Baba Yara Stadium with some interesting results.

The shocker of the day is the defeat of last year finalist Opoku Ware School at the hands of Church of Christ SHS after a drawn game.

Ashanti Inter school soccer competition is highly rated in the Ashanti Region and creates lots of buzz in the region.

Kumasi High School won their play off game against Asare Bediako SHS on penalty earlier in the day but KUHIS failed woefully against Osei Kyeretwie SHS losing 2-0 to bow out of the completion. OKESS scored both goals against the defending champions in the first 10 minutes through Eugene Adu Amankwah and Gyedu Messiah.

Richard Osei Asamoah’s solitary strike handed Asanteman SHS a 1-0 victory over Mpasatia Sec. Tech.

Sakafia SHS thrashed EFFISCO 4-0. Oppong Samuel Boansi opened the scoring before Abdul Basit Abdulraham netted twice, with Inusah Jafar snatching the last goal of the day.

 
Bosome Freho SHS, who are making their first appearance in the competition, beat Kumasi Academy 3-1. Ayimadu Frimpong Emmanuel scored twice, with Ibrahim Santoman getting the other goal. Anyane Mezack grabbed the consolation goal.

Our Lady of Grace SHS, after a 1-1 stalemate, won 8-7 on penalties against T.I. Amass, Fomena. Isaac Oppong Acheampong scored for OLAG, while Salim Kassim netted for T. I AMASS. OLAG shot-stopper Annor Samuel made three saves during the shootouts.

The competition will continue with the round of 16 fixtures on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.
