DAY 1 Results of 2023 Ashanti Regional Inter-school Boys’ Soccer Competition: Adu Gyamfi, Prempeh, T.I. Amass-Kumasi, and others advance to R16 [+Day 2 fixtures]

The 2023 Ashanti Regional Inter-school and Colleges Boys’ Soccer Competition kicked off on Monday morning at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Eight (8) games were played on Day 1, producing some exciting moments on the day to the delight of the football lovers who thronged to the stadium.

In the first game, former champions Adu Gyamfi SHS secured a 1-0 victory over Bodomase SHS thanks to a well-converted spotkick by Abdul Fatawu Wahab in the second half of the game. The Jamasi-based outfit initially failed to take advantage missing from the spot.

In T.1 AMASS, Kumasi posted a 3-1 win over Dwamena Akenten in the second game. Asante Kotoko’s young prodigy, Rocky Dwamena, snatched a brace on the day. Emmanuel Yeboah pulled one back for Dwamena Akenten before the break. However, after recess, Richmond Opoku ‘Dembele’ restored AMASS’ two-goal margin.

Kumasi Anglican SHS (KASS) also picked up an impressive 2-0 victory over Bodwesango SHS. Emmanuel Attakorah ‘Messi’ opened the scoring from close range before Ghana U-16 star Ramzy Asumadu netted his side’s second goal.

Yankey George’s solitary strike handed Aduman SHS a 1-0 win over Agona Sec. Tech.

Amadu Wadudu and Christian bagged two goals for Tweneboah Koduah SHS with Godwin Amevor getting the consolation goal for Ejuraman.

Roland Opoku Mensah scored the only goal of the game to hand Prempeh College a 1-0 win over Antoa SHS.

Nyinahin Catholic SHS lost 1-3 to Islamic SHS. Sakibu Mohammed speed Nyinahin’s only. Elijah Yinbil netted a brace with Salim Mohammed getting the other goal for Islamic SHS.

Two goals through Isaac Gyabeng and Farouk Omar Awidana gave Simms Commercial SHS a 2-0 victory against O’SEC TECH.

The games will continue on Tuesday morning.

Kumasi High School (KUHIS) will battle Asare Bediako SHS in a playoff showdown before matches for the Day begin.
