DAY 1 Results of 2022 Ashanti Regional Inter-school boys soccer competition: OKESS, Adu Gyamfi, Prempeh advance to R16 [+ DAY 2 FIXTURES]

The 2022 Ashanti Regional Inter-school and Colleges Boys Soccer Competition commenced on Wednesday morning with some intriguing games at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.

The game was moved from the Baba Yara Sports Stadium due to an impending inspection of the facility by CAF.

The competition started around 7AM with the first encounter being a group game play-off between Jacobu SHS and Ghana Muslim Mission.

After a pulsating goalless draw, Jacobu SHS beat Ghana Muslim Mission 5-4 on penalties to book a place in the Round of 32.

Jacobu will battle Juaben SHS in a round of 32 duel on Friday, after emerging winners in the play-off tie.

The second match on the day saw heavyweight Adu Gyamfi SHS beating St. Jerome, who eliminated defending champions Kumasi High School, 4-2 on penalties.

Adu Gyamfi led by a goal to nil after the first half, but St. Jerome improved in the second half and pulled parity to push the game to penalties.

Aduman SHS walloped Mpasatia Sec/Tech 4-1. Aduman led 3-0 before Mpasatia reduced the deficit by 1. But with few minutes to end the duel, Aduman SHS snatched their 4th goal on the day.

Powerhouse OKESS piped Tepa SHS 1-0 to secure a place in the round of 16.

Konongo-Odumase SHS trounced Bodomase SHS 3-1. The Asante-Akim-based side went ahead 3-0 before Bodomase reduced the deficit by 1 late in the second half.

A first half penalty was all that Tweneboah Kodua SHS needed to beat Fast Track Academy 1-0 to progress to the next round of the competition.

Prempeh College managed a slender 1-0 victory over Asare Bediako.

The last game of the day was between Islamic SHS and Oweriman SHS and the latter secured a slender 1-0 victory.

The round of 32 matches will continue tomorrow at 8am.
