'Changing of coaches affecting Kotoko's performance this season' - Ex-goalkeeper Osei Boateng

The Ghana Premier League holders, Asante Kotoko, have encountered several challenges this season, including poor results and inconsistent performances.

Osei Boateng, a former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, believes that one of the reasons for the team’s struggles is the frequent changes in coaching staff.

After the sacking of Burkinabe tactician Seydou Zerbo, the team is presently being managed by Abdul Gazale following their defeat to Medeama SC.

In an interview with Peace FM, Boateng acknowledged that Nana’s efforts to enhance the club’s image and organize the census were commendable.

However, the former goalkeeper believes that the instability caused by the frequent changes in coaching staff has resulted in inconsistent performances. Boateng noted that recent defeats to Olympics and Medeama, and a draw with Tamale City, have hurt Asante Kotoko’s chances of contending for the league title this season.

He expressed his concern, stating, “the changing of the coaches is not making the team stable today we score one, tomorrow then we are defeated, playing draw the next day. “

“In recent matches Kotoko had the edge to be contenders of the league till this time but what did we see Olympics beat them, Tamale City draw Medeama beat them this didn’t help Kotoko.”
