In the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League qualifiers, the reigning champions of the Ghana Premier League clashed with the Nigerian team in the first leg of a doubleheader.

With a strong opening by the hosts, Medeama SC successfully secured a narrow 1-0 win by the conclusion of the 90-minute match.
