1 min read

FC Samartex 1996 earned a vital 1-0 away win against Cameroonian champions Victoria United in the first leg of their CAF Champions League qualifier at the Japoma Stadium in Douala.

Emmanuel Mamah scored the only goal of the match in the second half, heading in powerfully from a corner kick to give the Ghanaian team a significant edge ahead of the return leg.

Head coach Nurudeen Amadu opted for a strong lineup, with Kofi Baah in goal and Ebenezer Acquah serving as captain.

Victoria United started the match on the front foot, controlling the early proceedings but failing to create any clear chances against Samartex’s solid defense.

As the game progressed, Samartex began to take control of possession, but despite several opportunities, they were unable to break the deadlock in the first half.

After halftime, Samartex increased their attacking pressure, which ultimately led to Mamah’s decisive goal.

Both teams battled fiercely in the final minutes, but Samartex remained resilient to secure the victory.

Samartex will aim to complete the job in the second leg, scheduled for August 25 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
