BREAKING NEWS: Ghana eliminate Nigeria to qualify for the 2022 World Cup

The Black Stars of Ghana has ended their 8-year wait for a FIFA World Cup slot after eliminating the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday evening.

Ghana last competed in the World Cup at Brazil 2014 but a first half goal from captain Thomas Partey and a spot kick from Troost Ekong to end the game 1-1 ensured the Stars will be in Qatar for the summer tournament.

The visitors took the lead after just eleven minutes through Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey but that lead was canceled eleven minutes later by Trrost Ekong via a penalty spot much to the delight of the home fans.

Victor Osimhen thought he had given the hosts a lead after he found the back of the net in the 34th minute but the goal was ruled out for offside after consultation with the VAR; both teams heading into the halftime break with no one getting the better of the other.

Ghana made three changes at half-time and also changed from 4-3-3 to 3-5-2. This gave them greater midfield control, able to protect their defense and move the ball forward with something approximating aggression and they were able to hold the hosts until the final whistle

Ghana now becomes the first team to qualify from the CAF section and Otto Addo will hope that they can give a good account in the competition.
