Bofoakwa Tano forward Saaka Dauda confirms talks with Asante Kotoko

2 min read

Bofoakwa Tano captain Saaka Dauda has disclosed that he is negotiating a possible move to Asante Kotoko, the club based in Kumasi.

The discussions have begun as Kotoko aims to bolster their team for the forthcoming Ghana Premier League season.

Even though Bofoakwa Tano was relegated, Dauda was a key player for the Sunyani-based team in the past season. The 24-year-old forward netted eight goals in 32 matches, making him a highly desired attacker in the Ghanaian top division.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM, Dauda confirmed the ongoing talks with Asante Kotoko.

“Yes, as of now, I have spoken with no one from Hearts but have received calls from Asante Kotoko. Kotoko is a big team, so I would really love to play for them,” Dauda stated.

“Looking at the players, board, and owner, it is clear that this is a great team, and if the deal is completed, I will be grateful to God for providing me with such a big platform. However, I still have two years left on my contract, so Kotoko and Bofoakwa will need to come to an agreement before I can join.”

Asante Kotoko are keen to strengthen their attack following the departure of 18 players, indicating a major squad revamp. Adding Dauda is viewed as a crucial step to improve the team’s performance in the upcoming season.

Despite Dauda’s personal contributions, Bofoakwa Tano ended the season in 17th place, resulting in their relegation. The team also reached the FA Cup final but was defeated by Nsoatreman SC on penalties, highlighting the necessity for a robust rebuild.
