24 hours after announcing he is open to playing for the Black Stars at the 2022 World Cup, England-born Ghanaian striker Eddie Nketiah has bagged a brace in Arsenal’s 4-2 win at Chelsea in the English Premier League derby at Stamford Bridge.
The 22-year-old opened the scoring for Arsenal in the 13th minute when he pounced onto a loose ball, skipping past a challenge from Malang Sarr before cooly slotting the ball past outrushing goalkeeper Mendy.
The ex-Leeds United loanee struck his second goal into the bottom corner after taking advantage of a ball that bounced off Chelsea defender Malang Sarr.
Nketiah stayed on the pitch until he was replaced by Gabriel Martinelli in the 70th minute. The attacker has now scored 2 goals in 15 Premier League games for Arsenal. Altogether, the attacker has recorded 7 goals in 21 games for the Gunners in all competitions this season.
Eddie Nketiah, who has only featured for England’s youth teams, is one of seven players the GFA is reportedly in talks with to represent Ghana at the 2022 World Cup but the youngster wants to resolve his club future this summer before deciding with his family, if he wants to join the Black Stars in Qatar.
