Bechem United winger Augustine Okrah has rejected a late invitation from Black Stars head coach Otto Addo to join the team ahead of the Invitational Tournament in Japan.
Okrah along with Hearts of Oak’s Daniel Afriyie Barnieh were left in the spectator’s stands to watch Ghana’s 3-0 mauling of Madagascar in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers last Wednesday.
Okrah was later dropped from the 26-man squad that drew 1-1 with the Central African Republic in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers last Sunday.
Our checks has revealed that the call-up was extended to him through a Ghana FA Executive Council member on Sunday.
However, the former Asante Kotoko playmaker failed to move to Accra to join the rest of the contingent who left the shores of the country for the East Asian nation.
“I got injured during our game against Aduana Stars. I didn’t want to go and disgrace myself reason why I didn’t report to the Black Stars, Okrah said.
“I told Lord Zico to inform the management about by fitness and my decision not to join the team.”
Ghana men’s senior national will take on Japan in the opening games of the tournament while Chile will play Tunisia in the other game.
