Ashantigold coach Thomas Duah pleads for mercy after GFA ban

Banned Ashantigold coach Thomas Duah says he does not accept the ban by the Ghana football association disciplinary committee after Ashantigold and Inter Allies were found guilty of match-fixing.

Head coach of Ghana Premier League side Ashantigold SC, Thomas Duah was handed a 24 months ban from all football-related activity for his involvement in match-fixing and manipulation.

The outspoken coach speaking with Joe Laka on Midfield Action said the hands of the playing body are clean and thus should be exempted from any ban.

“I and my players know nothing about the fixed games for the FA to place this ban on us. For Champion and his son, they have many jobs to rely on, but what of us? the coach and the players?

We feed our families through football. The GFA should come again, in fact, Kurt Okraku should appease us by buying us houses.

Ban on fixed games should be related to officialdom but not football players and coaches, we know nothing about it and I don’t accept that I have been banned” He said.

He further asserted that he had no involvement in any transaction and urged the GFA to take him into consideration.

“I’m begging GFA to consider me. Getting a lawyer costs money. No one including Champion can boldly say they had a transaction with me.” He said.

He also stated that he told the players to play for the enjoyment of the club’s supporters because the points at stake were not important.

“Before the game, I told AshGold players to entertain fans because we didn’t need points.”.
