Asante Kotoko youngster Clinton Opoku returns from injury

1 min read

Asante Kotoko youngster Clinton Opoku has returned to training following an injury he sustained about two-and-a-half months ago.

The 18-year-old, who is popularly known as Asuom Messi, has been out of action after sustaining an injury against Aduana Stars in Dormaa on January 1, 2022-a game the Porcupine Warriors won by 2-0.

Opoku was introduced in the second half of that epic clash but unfortunately got a knock which has seen him on the sidelines for almost three months.     He returned to training with his teammates on Wednesday afternoon at the Adako Jachie Training Complex.

The enterprising midfielder was spotted having a personal training session with Sarfo Taylor, who recently returned to Ghana from Spain, and striker Andy Kumi.

Clinton Opoku, who is known for his unique dribbling skills, arrived at Kotoko from lower-tier side Phar Rangers on a four-year contract.

Opoku has now recovered fully and is back to join the rest of his teammates at the team’s training grounds.

Asante Kotoko leads the league log with 44 points, eight more than second-placed Aduana Stars. They will travel to play Techiman Eleven Wonders on Monday in a match-day 21 fixture of the Ghana Premier League.
