The management of Asante Kotoko have released the 25-year-old attacker following the expiration of his contract.

Ghana Premier League powerhouse Asante Kotoko have parted ways with William Opoku Mensah after his contract with the club expired few weeks ago.

The Porcupine Warriors refused to offer the former Karela United captain a fresh contract following his poor output at the club since his arrival in 2019.

Opoku Mensah joined Asante Kotoko on a one-year deal with an option of renewal prior to the commencement of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League which was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

He joined the Kumasi-based club on a free transfer last year after his contract with American side second-tier side Swope Park Rangers was terminated due to his poor performance.

Opoku Mensah featured four times in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League with no contribution to goal scoring this term.

He also played in the CAF Champions League preliminary round fixture against Al Hilal which Asante Kotoko lost 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
