Kumasi Asante Kotoko have resolved to cancel their proposed trip to the United Arab Emirates for their final part of preparations ahead of the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season.

The Ghanaian giants were scheduled to leave the shores of Ghana this month to pitch camp in the Asian county to continue their pre-season exercise.

The Reds trekked to the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua a few weeks ago for the second phase of their pre-season.

But according to the club’s Communications Director, Moses Antwi Benefo, the hierarchy of the club have decided against travelling to Dubai due to the Coronavirus.

” Looking at the Covid situation in Dubai ,it’s a bit scary which we don’t want to endanger the health of our players. Another country management was looking at was Turkey, ” Moses Antwi Benefo told Oyerepa FM.

“The Black Stars story has informed our decision not to make the trip. We will now move to Accra to train at Accra Sports Stadium to familiarize with the pitch for some days before we return to Kumasi for the necessary traditional blessings before the season begins.”

Ghana’s top-flight is scheduled to begin on November 13, 2020. Kotoko will play as hosts to Techiman Eleven Wonders.

Kotoko will represent Ghana in next season’s Caf Champions League.
