"Asante Kotoko need result-oriented coach" - Eric Bekoe

Eric Bekoe, a former striker for Asante Kotoko, has advised the club to hire a coach who is focused on achieving results if they decide not to retain the current interim coach, Abdulai Gazale, as the substantive trainer.

Gazale was appointed as interim boss after Seydou Zerbo was dismissed following a 2-0 loss to Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium.

After 30 games in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season, the Porcupine Warriors sit in 6th place with 44 points, with four games remaining. In their most recent match, they were held to a 1-1 draw by Gold Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium.

In an interview with Accra-based Radio Gold, Bekoe suggested that the team needs an experienced coach who is focused on achieving results.

He stated, “You need an already ripe and thick-skinned coach who is in for results. But you go in for a coach who can deal with the upcoming ones then we are going into the academy system. But for now, Kotoko is result-oriented and they know anything apart from the win. So if they don’t want the continuity, they should go in for an already ripe coach who can quickly give them the results.”

Asante Kotoko will play their next match against relegated Kotoku Royals in the matchday 31 game at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu on Sunday.
