Asante Kotoko appoint Abdulai Gazale as acting head coach after sacking Seydou Zerbo

Following Asante Kotoko SC’s 2-0 home defeat against Medeama SC on Sunday night, head coach Seydou Zerbo has been sacked, and Abdulai Gazale has been appointed as interim head coach.

In a tweet on Monday morning, the club announced that the decision to part ways was mutual, and Gazale has been tasked with taking charge as acting head coach.

The defeat was Kotoko’s sixth league loss of the season and eighth overall under Zerbo, who took over from Prosper Narteh Ogum at the start of the current campaign.

Zerbo had returned from Burkina Faso on Saturday night after the passing of his ten-year-old son and suffered his sixth defeat of the league season.

With Kotoko in seventh place with 34 points in 22 matches, the management team led by Nana Yaw Amponsah has reacted by sacking Zerbo.
