Asamoah Gyan posts a cryptic response following news of divorce settlement with ex-wife

Following the announcement of his divorce settlement with his ex-wife, Gifty Gyan, Asamoah Gyan posted an enigmatic remark.

The now-retired player implied that even though his ex-wife Gifty may believe she has “won,” that may not be the truth in a comment on a news story Ameyaw Debrah shared on Twitter.

“If I have 10pts and I keep quiet cos I’m matured, and you have 2 pts and you going find public sympathy, then it’s cool. You are very funny. This is deep so think about it,” Asamoah Gyan commented under the post.

The former Ghana captain later tweeted echoing his earlier statement, that”Lawyers wants to be credible cos they lost. The only thing they can do is come to public to lie to the public cos I’m a public figure. I have 10 pts. They have 2 pts. The only place they can go now is social media.”

Background to the case

After a three-year legal battle, an Accra court has ruled on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, that the three kids of Gifty Gyan belong to former Black Stars player, Asamoah Gyan.

This follows years of a divorce battle between Asamoah Gyan and his ex-wife Gifty Gyan.

Asamoah Gyan had claimed he was not the father of their three children and called for an annulment of their marriage.

The court has however, on Tuesday, 31st October 2023, ruled that the three kids belong to Asamoah Gyan.

The court charged the former Black Stars captain to pay Gifty Gyan 25,000 Ghana cedis every month for the upkeep of the three kids excluding their school fees, medical and dental care, flight tickets among other child care costs.

Asamoah Gyan’s mansion in the United Kingdom was also awarded to Gifty Gyan as compensation, in addition to a four-bedroom house at Spintex.

Gifty Gyan will now also take custody of a BMW vehicle and an Infiniti that Asamoah Gyan owns.

In addition, the court has granted Gifty Gyan a land belonging to Asamoah Gyan, originally designated for a filling station.

The court also annulled the marriage between the two parties, while noting that despite the annulment of the marriage, the kids which Asamoah Gyan had hitherto denied, are actually his children confirmed by court-sanctioned DNA test.
