Accra to host 2021 National Table Soccer championship
1 min readThe maiden edition of the National Table Soccer championship has been slated for the 26th of June 2021 in Accra.
The tournament which will be the first of it kind to be hosted is aimed at promoting the sports in all part of the nation and also help recruit players for the Senior national table soccer team, the Black Shooters.
The tournament has been categorised into Men singles, Women singles, Men double, Women double, U15 for both male and female and the Wheelchair catergory.
Speaking to SportsGh, the President of the Table Soccer Association, Mr Kwesi Akaibo Adeaba revealed that the tournament is to help identify the best table soccer players across the country and groom them to be professionals.
“Table Soccer is no new game, it’s a game that has been in existence for long and we are using this medium to recruit the best players for the national team and also prepare them for the Community and regional leagues in the coming years”
“We are going to recruit and groom table soccer players across the nation for the upcoming WATSU CUP and the national league”
Mr Adeaba further revealed that only seven (7) regions will be partaking in the maiden edition of the National Championship this year.
“We have only seven (7) regional associations(Greater Accra, Western, Western-North, Volta, Ashanti, Central and the Northern region) for now and they are going to help recruit players to represent each region.
