Abuakwa Super Kings Cricket Club stunned Tortibo Twinkle Star Gentlemen (TSG) with a 43 runs victory in a week 3 tie of the ongoing Asuogyaman Boys U-19 T20 Community League to topple Pupuni Community Cricket Club on the Zone 2 table.
The second match of the week which was played at the Senchi Methodist Park due to unfavorable playing condition at the Akosombo Presby Park after a downpour saw Tortibo win toss, electing to field first. Abuakwa Super Kings scored 58 runs, all out, in 10.1 over in the first innings and restricted Tortibo TSG to a score of 15 runs, all out in 5.3 overs.
Prince Homeku, who was adjudged Man of the Match was magical in the bowling figures, taking 3 wickets, giving away just a run in 2 overs, with a maiden. His team mate, Prince Addae took 2 wickets, gave away 5 runs in 1.3 overs, with a maiden over.
Tortibo, after making headlines in week 1, after a fashionable 38 runs victory against Senchi Royal Batters, didn’t appear themselves. They however maintained their 3rd spot, still with 2 points.
Abuakwa Super Kings are now on top of the Zone 2 table, 4 points apiece with Pupuni Community Cricket Club, but with a Net Run Rate advantage of 3.292, having won 2 matches continuously, same as Pupuni.
Mangoase Hydro, had their first win against Senchi Master Batters in the first match played on Saturday, June 12, 2021. Mangoase Hydro scored 50 runs, all out in 10.2 overs in the first innings, after Senchi Master Batters won toss and electing to field first.
Henry Gidi, Man of the match for the game and his team mates restricted Senchi Master batters to 27 runs, all out in 7.4 overs and won the game by 23 runs. Henry, took 3 wickets, gave away 6 runs in just 1 over in the bowling figures and scored 7 runs, off 7 balls.
Mangoase, after their win moved from bottom to 4th, shifting their opponents to the bottom.
In the Zone 1 match played on Thursday, June 17, at the Fintey D/A Basic School Park, after its postponement from Saturday, the Terrific Hitters from Boso saw off Frankadua Century Batters by 7 wickets to book a ticket to the semifinals.
Frankadua Century Batters after winning toss and electing to bat first scored 64 runs, for 9 wickets. Boso, had no problems at all, as they needed 3 more, 67 runs, for 3 wickets in 9.3 overs.
Isaac Darko, was superb in the batting performance, scoring 39 runs, off 24 balls not out to be adjudged the Player of the Match accolade.
Anum Wicket Masters will now face Frankadua to decide who cements the 2nd spot in Zone 1.
Meanwhile in Zone 2, Senchi Royal Batters and Senchi Master Batters will lock horns in a local derby as they both battle for qualification, having lost 2 matches apiece.
