“A country like Ghana deserves a better stadium with a better pitch to play football” – Angola coach Pedro Goncalves
1 min readAngola coach Pedro Goncalves has registered his displeasure about the poor state of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium pitch in Ghana after their Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday evening.
The Palancas Negras secured a slender 1-0 victoryover Otto Addo’s Black Stars with a late goal from substitute Joao Felicio in Kumasi.
After the encounter, Goncalves did not hesitate to comment about the shameful nature of the playing field despite the numerous renovation works from the National Sports Authority.
“We did well with our game plan. Tried to play football but the pitch was difficult. I think a country like Ghana deserves a better stadium with a better pitch to play football.
“Because they(Black Stars) are lovely players so they deserve better.”
Ghana, a four-time Afcon champion has five stadia across the country in five cities including Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Cape Coast and Takoradi.
However, the Baba Yara Sports Stadium is the only approved Stadium by the Confederation of African Football for international rnational games.
