Rugged center back Mohammed Salisu might miss the much touted 2026 FIFA World Cup after picking Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury while in action in the French League 1.

His club, Monaco, has confirmed that the Ghanaian international will miss the remainder of their league campaign following that ACL injury in Lyon loss. Barring any miracle, Mohammed Salisu will miss the 2026 World Cup scheduled for June – July.

Mohammed Salisu received his first national team call-up before the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

After putting up an impressive show for the Black Stars in some trial matches on the verge of the 2022 World Cup, he went ahead to excel in the tournament itself.

He scored the first goal from a header when the Black Stars beat South Korea 3-2 in their second group game.

Since then the strong central defender has not looked back. His pair with Alexander Djiku at the Black Stars rear guard has been solid.

They were the major reason why the Black Stars lost only a game in 10 World Cup qualifying matches.

After his side, Southampton was relegated from the English Premier League last two seasons, Mohammed Salisu moved to Monaco and has so far had a wonderful spell with the French side until his recent injury which seems to be a big blow to Coach Otto Addo.
