The ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025) in Morocco is really gathering momentum with beautiful display of football artistry and amazing goals as well.

To most connoisseur of the game, host Nations, Morocco, stands a good chance of winning their second AFCON having won it once in 1976 looking at their winning start and in-form players at their disposal.

On the contrary, some football pundits also believe it will be a herculean task for the Moroccans who made history as the first African side to reach the semi finals of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

This is simply because teams like Nigeria, Algeria and Egypt who have have the AFCON unprecedented 7 times are also coming with full force.

West Africa side, Ivory Coast hosted and won the last AFCON. It was their third Africa success having won in 1992 and 2015 all against the Black Stars of Ghana.

Since the Pharaoh’s of Egypt won the AFCON three times in a roll in 2006, 2008, and 2010, no country has been able to defend the AFCON trophy in the last 15 years.

The entire continent are anxiously waiting to see whether Ivory Coast can break that long standing jinx.

At the moment, Coach Coach Kwasi and his Sudanese team are catching all attention in Morocco.

Sudan are on record to have won only a game since the inception of the AFCON in 1957. However, they defied all odds to beat Equatorial Guinea 1-0 in Morocco.

It was their second AFCON win mastermind by a Ghanaian coach Kwasi Appiah. The victory is a clear indication that coach Kwasi Appiah’s qualification from the group comprising Angola, Niger and four times champions Ghana Black Stars was not by fluke.

The world is waiting to see where the Sudanese will get to in the ongoing AFCON 2025 in Morocco.
