Asante Kotoko IMC clears players' four months outstanding arrears

Asante Kotoko’s four-member Interim Management Committee (IMC) has successfully settled the outstanding arrears owed to the playing body and the technical team.

Prior to the conclusion of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season, both the players and the technical staff had not received their salaries for four months.

Following the dissolution of the Dr Kwame Kyei-led 12-member board of directors and the Nana Yaw Amponsah-led management, it was confirmed that the wages for the players and technical team were in arrears.

The club’s life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, directed the IMC to clear the debt before considering any new player recruitment for the upcoming 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season. Additionally, the IMC received an amount of GhC600,000 to prepare the team for the new football season.

With the team set to begin pre-season preparations under the guidance of Prosper Narteh Ogum next week, the IMC has fulfilled their task of settling the outstanding arrears.

Asante Kotoko is scheduled to commence their 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign with a home match against returning team, Heart of Lions.

The Interim Management Committee (IMC) comprises Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua, the Kontomponiaferehene, and a chartered accountant, former Black Stars coach Appiah, Dr. Ogum, and Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi as the administrative manager.

Their responsibilities also include ensuring the club meets all the statutory obligations for the Ghana Premier League and assembling a strong team for the upcoming season.

A new Board of Directors and management are expected to be appointed before the commencement of the new season.
