U-23 AFCON: ‘Chris Hughton’s presence in camp will motivate the Black Meteors players’ – Ibrahim Tanko

Ibrahim Tanko, the head coach of the Black Meteors, expressed his belief that the presence of Chris Hughton, the coach of the Black Stars, will serve as motivation for his players during the ongoing 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Hughton, the coach of Ghana’s senior national team, is currently with the U-23 team at their training camp. Ghana’s U-23 team secured their first victory of the tournament against Congo on Sunday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

Tanko emphasized that having Chris Hughton, who is providing technical support to the team, will inspire the players.

He stated, “We are happy to have him in the team. We have been exchanging ideas with him,” Tanko said during his post-match press conference.

“He is the head coach of the senior national team and that’s where some of these players will go from here so we are happy to have him here,” he added.

Following their 3-2 win over Congo, Ghana currently sits at the top of Group A. They are set to face the host country, Morocco, on Tuesday, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00 GMT.
