Serbian coach Slavko Matic facing sack at Hearts of Oak

Slavko Matic’s sacking at Hearts of Oak appears imminent as club sources strongly hint management is just awaiting final executive approval to dispense with the Serbian.

The Serbian coach is almost five months in charge of the Phobians but is already facing the sack following their recent derby defeat against Great Olympics on Sunday.

Matic, who was appointed October 19, 2022 has supervised 16 games since taking over from Samuel Boadu and has won seven, drawn five and lost four.

On Friday morning, irate fans of the Phobians stormed their training grounds at Pobiman to stop the 46-year-old from training with the squad and he has subsequently reported the incident to the Ghana Police Headquarters.

However, Footydreamsgh.com understands that the Hearts of Oak Board led by Executive Chairman Togbe Afede held a wide-ranging review of what went wrong and why and tilted towards relieving Matic of his duties on grounds of poor performance.

The coach, it is further understood, could find his rear end on the line when his employers meet once more this evening over a final decision on his future before the Super Clash on Sunday against Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Slavko Matic was handed a two-year contract with an option to extend at the end of the contract with the task to lead the club to win the Ghana Premier League and qualify to the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
