2025 Afcon qualifiers: Sudan secure victory over Niger
1 min readSudan opened their AFCON 2025 qualifying campaign with a hard-fought slender 1-0 victory over Niger on Wednesday afternoon.
The encounter, which was the opening clash of Group F, saw Abobaker Mamoun Eisa scoring the only goal in the 51st minute.
Following the victory, Sudan extended their unbeaten run to five competitive games under the tutelage of Ghanaian trainer Kwesi Appiah.
The victory sends Sudan to the top of the group standings temporarily, as they hope that Thursday’s encounter between Ghana and Angola produces a favourable outcome for them.
The victory is significant for the Sudanese as they hope to make it to the tournament in Morocco after missing the last edition in Cote d’Ivoire.
Kwesi Appiah has been incredible with Sudan since his appointment as he is yet to taste a defeat.
They have won five of their six games in 2024
and have only conceded once in their last six games. They sit at the top of their 2026 World Cup qualifying group as well.
