The maiden edition of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Awards was held at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) in Accra on Saturday, September 10, 2023.

The colourful event which ended successfully in the nation’s capital saw players, coaches and clubs across the competitions organized by the GFA winning prestigious awards.

Medeama SC defender Vincent Atinga was named the Ghana Premier League best player of the season as Ampem Darkoa Ladies attacker Mary Amponsah bagged two awards; top scorer of the season and best women’s player of the season.

Reigning Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC and Women’s Premier League title holders Ampem Darkoa Ladies received four awards each at the ceremony.

Asante Kotoko won most branded and the most vibrant club of the season, while FC Samartex 1996 picked the best Supporters of the season.

The ultimate prize of the night went to FIFA referee Julian Nii Akwa Nunoo for emerging the best referee of the season. He received a luxurious Hyundai Elantra for clinching the award.

The ceremony attracted top personalities including officials from the GFA partners, Black Stars players and officials, old footballers and a performance from four-time Ghana Music Awards songwriter winner Kofi Kinaata.
