To maintain their unbeaten record in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the Black Stars of Ghana aim to avoid defeat in their upcoming game against Angola on Monday.
Having won two games and drawn one, Ghana currently sits at the top of Group E standings with seven points.
In the first of the two meetings in this international break, Ghana hosted Angola last Thursday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and secured a 1-0 win thanks to Antoine Semenyo’s solitary strike.
Now, the Black Stars are in Luanda, getting ready for what promises to be a tough match in the reverse fixture on Monday, March 27. The game is scheduled to kick off at 4 pm at the Estádio 11 de Novembro.
Team News
Alexander Djiku was forced off with an injury scare in Ghana’s last involvement, and the defender is currently a major doubt for Monday’s contest.
As a result, Joseph Aidoo could be handed a place in the starting lineup here after coming on for Djiku in the final knockings of the aforementioned game.
Also, captain Andre Ayew, Mohammed Salisu who missed the first leg in Kumasi and Dennis Odoi who played an influential role in Kumasi will take no part in the game due to injuries.
Having recently opened his international account at the sixth time of asking, Antoine Semenyo will be aiming to come up with the goods once again.
Ary Papel has made 49 appearances for Angola, and his next game would see him join a handful of players to have racked up half a century of caps.
Midfielder Show lasted only just 33 minutes last time out before coming off with a knock, but he is expected to be fit in time to feature for the away side.
Here are the possible starting lineups:
Angola: Cipriano; Carneiro, Mananga, Gaspar, Ndefe; Show, Fredy; Papel Ary, Gelson, Costa; Nzola
Ghana: Ati-Zigi; Mensah, Aidoo, Amartey, Schindler; Partey, Addo; Ayew, Kudus, Sulemana; Williams.
