2023 AFCON: Ibrahim Tanko names 22-man Black Meteors squad for Mozambique clash

Black Meteors coach Ibrahim Tanko has called-up 22 players ahead of their CAF U-23 Championship qualifier against Mozambique on Sunday.

The squad has been boosted with the arrival of former U-20 AFCON winning defend Philemon Baffour who currently plays for Rio Ave in the Portuguese league.

The team departed Accra for Maputo on Thursday, October 20,2022 for the crucial qualifier.

A delegation made up of 22 players, technical staff and officials left Accra on Thursday evening for the game which is scheduled for Sunday, October 23 at the Estadio Nacional do Zimpeto.

Black Meteors will arrive in Maputo today after a brief transit in Johannesburg.

The winner will move on to play the winner of the tie between Algeria and DR Congo.

The fourth edition of the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations will take place in Morocco in June 2023.

Coach Tanko was in charge of the team which finished fourth at the 2019 tournament won by hosts Egypt, which ensured Ghana missed out on the 2020 Olympic Games.

DEFENDERS: Augustine Randolph, Alex Opoku Sarfo, Aaron Essel, David Oppong Afrane, Bismark Anim, Philemon Baffour, Eugene Amankwah

MIDFIELDERS: Dominic Nsobila, Emmanuel Adjei, Simba Sylvester, Hafiz Ibrahim, Abass Salifu Samari, Suraj Seidu

WINGERS: Hagan Frimpong, Samuel Ashie Quaye, Clinton Duodu, Ishmael Dede

FORWARDS: Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Yussif Abdul Razak, Isaac Akwasi Sebeh.
