2022/23 DOL Day 5 Results & Standings: Bofoakwa halts Young Apostles’ perfect start, Nations FC pick away win as Liberty drops points, Arsenal & Tema Youth still winless

The match-day five of the 2022/23 Access Division One League brought us enthralling results across the various zones and match centers.
In Zone One A and B, Baffuor Soccer Academy demolished Unity FC 5-1 on Matchday 5 in Zone One of the Access Bank Division One League to bounce back from their recent defeat to Young Apostles. Emmanuel Adomah Boateng and Prince Ntori both scored a brace in between Bernard Boateng’s 22nd minute strike as Emmanuel Yeboah fetched the consolation for the visitors inside 64 minutes.
Adomah scored the first goal in the 17th minute, Boateng increased the tally 5 minutes later to the set the tone for a demolition.
Back from recess Emmanuel Adomah got his second of the day in the 50th minute as Prince Ntori smashed home two quick goals in the closing stages (88th, 90th) to complete the rout.
Baffuor Soccer Academy have now recorded three wins in the competition while Unity FC languish at the bottom of the table without a point – with fourteen goals conceded in five games.
In the Sunyani derby – Young Apostles tasted their first defeat of the season after losing to Bofoakwa Tano at the Coronation Park.
Solomon Oblitey’s goal was all Bofoakwa needed to walk away with the points and to maintain their unbeaten run. Bofoakwa Tano have kept five consecutive clean sheets in Zone One.
Strugglers Berekum Arsenal continued their winless spree as they lost their fifth game of the season against B.A United at the Golden City Park. Aaron Yinpoya delivered a sublime shot from the edge of the box to hand B.A United a valuable win on the road.
In Zone Two, Nzema Kotoko recorded an impressive 2-0 win against WAFA SC on Matchday five of the Access Bank Division One League. David Cobbinah was the hero of the day for the home side as he scored two second half goals to hand Kotoko a sumptuous home win to end the winning run of WAFA.
Both sides displayed an exhilarating football in the first half with WAFA seeking to extend their unbeaten run following their sudden turn around in the Zone in the last couple of matches. As the first half failed to produce goals Nzema Kotoko opened the scoring 13 minutes after the break through David Cobbinah.
The attacker again found the back of the net in the 67th minute as Kotoko doubled their advantage. Chances were far and few then after, as Kotoko held on to win the encounter 2-0 at the Ampain AAK II Arena.
Nzema Kotoko have now won twice and drawn twice with one defeat in their last five games in the league. WAFA SC on the other hand have won twice and also lost twice with one draw in between as they sit in 8th place with 7 points.
Elsewhere – Elmina Sharks beat Asokwa Deportivo 2-0 at the Nduom stadium to increase their winning form to two wins on the spin having gone three games without a win prior to their triumph over Asokwa Deportivo. Deportivo on the other hand have now played five games and are yet to record a single win with four defeats and one draw registered this far in the Access Bank Division One League.
Asekem FC moved to the top of the Zone two table following a 2-0 win over Swedru All Blacks at home to maintain their unbeaten record after week five round of matches – even though they have drawn three out of the five games. Asekem FC now occupies the top spot with 9 points while Swedru All Blacks find themselves in the middle of the table after amassing 7 points from a possible 15. The Swedru side have yet to win on the road in the ongoing campaign.
In Zone Three, Volta Rangers have dropped five points in their last two games after they were held 0-0 by Attram De Visser on Matchday five of the Access Bank Division One League. Rangers were stopped in their tracks by leaders Heart of Lions on Matchday four after having a blistering start to the season.
Attram de Visser are unbeaten in their last five games scoring five goals and conceding two in the League as they have moved to the second spot in the log with 9 points – one adrift of leaders Heart of Lions who play on Monday.
In another news – Tudu Mighty Jets were held 1-1 by Liberty Professionals at the Tema Park to continue their winless run in the Division One League.
Liberty on the other hand have drawn their last four games with their last win dating back to Matchday one when they beat Golden Kicks 2-1 in an away duel.
Newbies, Na God FC shocked their city rivals Golden Kick SC at the Tema Park to record a second consecutive win in the League.
Golden Kicks took the lead in the 4th minute through Dacosta Owusu but Brefo Owusu pulled parity for Na God FC in the 41st minute as the first half ended 1-1.
Emmanuel Tackie scored the winning goal three minutes from time to hand Na God FC a vital away win.
The pick of the pack is the match between Leaders Heart of Lions and Koforidua Samper FI who were in second place before the weekend games. This fixture will take place at the El wak Sports stadium on Monday.
