Two opening half goals and another one in the second condemned Hearts of Oak to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of AS Real de Bamako in a 2022/23 Caf Confederation Cup second preliminary round first-leg in Mali on Saturday.
The Malians, who eliminated Burkinabe side AS Douanes in the previous round, lade their intentions clear from start in front of a sparse crowd at Stade du 26 Mars de Bamako.
And reward for the efforts soon arrived on 8 minutes.
AS Real then made it 2-0 from a free-kick on the half-hour mark.
Looking to take a healthy advantage to Accra for the second leg, the Malian cup champions netted again in the 74th minute to seal the deserved win.
Hearts of Oak must now overturn the 3-goal deficit at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 16 to stand any chance of advancing to the playoffs round to the group stage of the 2022/23 Caf Confederation Cup.
