2020-21 GPL Week 1 wrap up: ‘Stubborn’ Olympics shock Medeama at home, Kotoko drop points at home as WAFA secure win over Faisal

The Yellow and Mauve were handed a reality check as they failed to pick three points against their visitors
Medeama failed to record 100 per cent on opening day of 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season as they shared the spoils 1-1 with Great Olympics at the AKoon’s Park on Sunday.
After a wonderful run in the pre-season, Medeama showed early signs of greatness as they troubled Olympics’ goal area.
Ali Ouattarra Issouf finally broke the deadlock after half an hour in the game when he latched onto a wonderful pass from a teammate and sent his effort past the Olympics goalkeeper.
Medeama could’ve doubled their advantage after the break but their strikers fluffed several half chances they had to the disappointment of head coach Samuel Boadu.
With quarter and hour to end the game, Olympics handed their hosts the shock of their lives as substitute Michael Yeboah connected a beautiful assist to score the equaliser.
With Olympics content with the one point, they resorted to a defensive game plan to protect it as they frustrated Medeama further more with time wasting tactics.
Olympics will now head to Accra to play Legon Cities at the Accra Sports Stadium next week.
