2020/21 GPL: Match Report: Karela United end Legon Cities’ impressive run

Karela United continued their impressive home dominance at the Crosby Awuah Memorial park with an emphatic 2-0 win over Legon Cities on match-day 29 of the Ghana Premier League.

The Anyinese-based outfit returned to winning ways after losing to Medeama SC at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa last week in the absence of their top star Diawisie Taylor – who travelled with the Black Meteors team.

Midfielder Umar Bashiru opened the scoring for Karela United from the penalty spot-kick in the 27th minute as Sylvester Sackey was booked for the foul.

After recess, Richmond and Antwi nearly got the equalizer for Legon Cities but his effort went wide.

Anim Cudjoe also came close to scoring but his effort was saved by the goalkeeper.

In the 66th minute Sylvester Sackey denied Karela United from extending the lead with some three great saves.

Richard Berko scored late in the game to seal the win for Karela United.

Richmond Antwi came close again after rounding up the goalkeeper but his effort hit the post.

The defeat also saw Legon Cities impressive run come to an end after five games.
