“There was no pressure on me” – Afriyie Barnieh reacts to his full Ghana debut in Switzerland win

Hearts of Oak star Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has said that he felt no pressure making his first full debut for the Black Stars in their win over Switzerland in Abu Dhabi on Thursday morning.

The forward was named in the 26-man squad of the Black Stars ahead of Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Barnieh made an appearance at the last minute for the Black Stars in friendlies against Nicaragua.

However, he appeared in the first XI for the team on Thursday in a friendly match against Switzerland.

The 21-year-old started on the right side alongside the Ayew brothers to provide support to his co-striker Inaki Williams.

In the first half of the game, Barnieh made an impressive run, terrorising the Swiss defence and also providing an attacking spark for the Black Stars.

Ghanaians have been taken aback by the performance of the Hearts of Oak striker.

Speaking in an interview with Joy Sports after the game, elated Barnieh reveals that he paid maximum attention to whatever the coaches told him hence his superlative performance.

“I feel good for making my full debut. It was a good game, there was no pressure and I adhered to what the coaches said and everything went well for me. The fans back home should keep on supporting and never stop praying for me”

The game ended 2-0 in favour of the Black Stars.
