Super Clash: Accra Sports stadium pitch helped Hearts of Oak – Yaw Preko

Former Hearts of Oak assistant coach, Yaw Preko has indicated that the poor nature of the Accra Sports Stadium surface handed the club an advantage in their Super Clash match against Asante Kotoko.
The two biggest clubs played a goalless stalemate on Sunday in a match-day 7 outstanding Ghana Premier League.
According to Preko, Kotoko’s possession-based game could not be executed owing to the pitch, unlike the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Preko further explained that Kotoko could not dominate the match because the balls weren’t flowing smoothly for them.
“I realized that Asante Kotoko couldn’t play their normal game as they do in Kumasi because of the current nature of the Accra Sports Stadium pitch. The balls weren’t flowing smoothly for Kotoko to dominate play in the middle which helped Hearts, ” Preko told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.
Following the draw, Hearts of Oak dropped to eighth place with 25 points, while Kotoko extended their lead at the top to seven points.
The Phobians have now gone three games without a win, putting an end to the Porcupines’ winning streak.
Hearts will face Legon Cities in the second round to continue their quest to turn their season around while Dreams will play Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium.
However, the two sides have been selected to battle against on March 4, 2022, in the President’s Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.
