Real Madrid, Juventus & Barcelona to revive European Super League proposals

1 min read

Real Madrid, Juventus, and Barcelona will renew their efforts to organize a European Super League, with the primary difference being that permanent member clubs will no longer be considered.

The trio is the last of the 12 ‘founding’ teams to reveal plans to join the ESL in April 2021, which drew much condemnation.

According to the Telegraph, Juventus president Andrea Agnelli will present fresh ESL plans at an industry gathering next Thursday.

He is slated to clarify that teams would instead be able to qualify for the tournament through their local leagues, and that plans to have permanent members regardless of their on-field results will be scrapped.

Despite UEFA’s lack of concern about a breakaway and nine other clubs, including the Premier League’s ‘big six,’ pulling out of plans last year, Real, Juve, and Barça are determined to bring about reform at the top level of football.

According to further ESL documents disclosed in September, the competition might lead to the formation of new clubs in important European cities without top teams. Two instances of regions that may be honored with a team were Dublin and Luxembourg.

The Premier League, on the other hand, considers the ESL problem to be resolved and does not anticipate English teams to sign up for any fresh ideas.
