Former Black Stars midfielder, Otto Addo is set to extend his contract after reaching an agreement with the Ghana Football Association to lead the Black Stars at the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup to be staged in Qatar.
According to reports, Addo after consulting with Borussia Dortmund has agreed to pen down a new contract with Ghana until the end of the year 2022.
Otto Addo is therefore expected to lead the Black Stars for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Addo was initially appointed as head coach of the Black Stars on an interim basis following the sack of Serbian gaffer Milovan Rajevac.
He led a four-man technical team that comprised Aston Villa U&23 coach George Boateng, ex-Asante Kotoko coach Mas-ud Didi Dramani and Chris Hughton, formerly of Newcastle United to qualify the four-time African champions to their fourth World Cup.
Addo’s initial agreement with the Ghana FA was to handle the two legs of World Cup playoffs against Nigeria and upon his impressive performance he is set to be rewarded with a one-year contract extension.
It would be recalled that when the team visited the presidency Ghana’s president His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made a clarion call for Otto Addo to remain as the head coach of the Black Stars for the Mundial.
Ghana has been pitted in Group H alongside Portugal, Uruguay and the Korea Republic.
